Mellifiq solution secures high quality potable water in Sri Lanka
Introduction.
The Kilinochchi Water Supply and Sanitation Improvement Project (WaSSIP) in Sri Lanka is an initiative of the Ministry of Water Supply, concerning over half a million beneficiaries. The project aims to improve access to running water services and improve sanitation in the selected districts, with the main goal to increase access to safe piped water to 60 percent of the population from the current coverage of 44 percent.
The engineering team was assigned to design and construct a new wastewater treatment plant treating the sanitary wastewater to a standard that could secure high-quality potable water for the community.
The wastewater will undergo the conventional steps of treatment and chemical dosing. As a last step, the Ozonetech RENA Vivo B4 will be used in the process of conversion of natural organic matter (NOM) to assimilable organic carbon, preventing algae blooming during the dry period of the year. Furthermore, the Vivo B4 solution will function as an additional microbial barrier to prevent contamination with bacteria and other microorganisms.
