Mellifiq paves the way in removal of pharmaceutical residues

Mellifiq thrusts Sweden into top global position in micropollutant removal by securing another project – this time at Alingsås municipality. We will deliver and implement a pharmaceutical residues removal solution with integrated multiple technologies with commission set for Q1 2021. Our engineering team is busy constructing a containerized solution which incorporates multimedia filtration, activated carbon (GAC), ozone and biological active carbon (BAC).

The municipality of Alingsås, in South-West Sweden, has also proclaimed its excitement through an August press release about the project.

“Our mission is to pave the way for making these solutions an industry standard, and another project of this caliber proves that we are a go-to partner for future installations”, Mellifiq CEO Behrooz Gilanpour says.

The main goal of the project is to carefully evaluate the specific removal rates at various degrees of system output to be able to properly size a full scale plant for 50,000 people in the near future. As the Mellifiq team is designing the plant, on-site preparations followed by civil works will take place during the last months of 2020, carried out by the company contracting and project management department.
