Reduced organic emissions

We have successfully conducted laboratory ozone treatment tests with from discharged process water from a large international corporation. The process water is currently contaminated with high levels of organic compounds (mostly humic substances and cellulose), which leads to high COD and BOD levels in the discharged water to the recipient. Due to the small particle size filtration is not applicable, and tests with flocculation and precipitation displayed a very large chemical consumption.

In order to reduce the amount of organic emissions our client wishes to oxidize the compounds in larger scale. The organic material is transformed mainly to carbon dioxide and water during the oxidation process which leads to less amount of sludge in the post-treatment process. The test results were very positive and showed a significant COD reduction in the process water. Already at an early stage, the total sulphur amount reached a total reduction.

Ozone treatment has once again showed to be a very potent treatment method for reducing COD levels and organic compounds in process water.
