Siloxane removal.
Siloxanes are man-made chains of silicon and oxygen atoms in alternation and their presence causes abrasion and wear on downstream equipment and components. Impurities based on Si with an alkaline compound are common in the biogas production.
Siloxanes have many commercial and industrial applications because of the compounds’ hydrophobicity, high flexibility, and low thermal conductivity.
Siloxanes are used in a wide variety of applications: sealants, adhesives, coatings, plastics, cosmetics, and other hygiene products and are the building blocks for all silicone products.
Activated carbon, granular or pelletized are very effective in removing of all species of siloxanes.
