Removing micropollutants in Sorsele

One of Sweden’s northernmost located wastewater treatment plants, in Sorsele municipality, is up next to implement Mellifiq’s full-scale micropollutant treatment solution.

The fully automated, integrated and multi-technology containerized system with ozone treatment, prefiltration and adsorption will remove more than 90 % of the pharmaceutical residues from the water before it is discharged into the Vindel river, a tributary to the much larger Umeå river. The Vindel river is partially running through the Vindelfjällens Nature Reserve being one of the largest protected areas in Europe. This project will help preserve the unique local fauna.
